THE FIRST AID KIT
Keep the first aid kit in a clearly labeled container, locked and well out of reach of children. Make sure that all adult members of the family know where it is kept.
Always replace anything that has been used. Any sterile packet which has been torn or damaged is no longer sterile and should be disposed of.
- Packet of assorted adhesive plasters-to cover small cuts and grazes
- Gauze dressing-to cover open wounds
- Adhesive dressing tape –to hold dressing in place
- Pressure pads-to cover snake bits
- 500mm x 4,5m crepe bandage-to secure dressings and immobilize injured joints
- Triangular bandage –for broken bones and for use as slings

- Safety pins-to secure bandages
- A pair of scissors
- A pair of tweezers-to remove stings and splinters
- A packet of cotton wool for cleaning wounds
- Pen torch

- Antacid for indigestion
- Antibacterial ointment for minor burns, cuts and grazes
- Antidiarhoeal
- Antiseptic solution to help prevent infection
- Cold and flu medicine
- Cough mixture
- Eye drops
- Insect bite and sting ointment
- Nausea and vomiting remedy
- Sunburn preparation
- Throat lozenges
